A12 was classic 2013 chip design! Sound of the summer, something something.

Pixel 3 has an 845, which is better in basically every way to a 2013 chip. Time moves slowly in Android-land, but it still moves forward.

Per @ericlaw, I may have been confused about the question! I thought you were referring to the Cortex A12: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_Cortex-A12 …

Qualcomm is getting mauled over and over and over. They don't produce a premium chip, but they charge as though the 845 is one...it's unbelievable. The 850 looks like weak sauce too: https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3061159/qualcomm-snapdragon-850-benchmarks-leak-but-dont-promise-the-world … Hey @stshank: any chance y'all will report on this?

At some point perhaps, but not likely via leaked benchmarks. I've been asking assorted folks about it for awhile but it's not at the top of my priority list. Sorry — I know it's one of your pet peeves.

Hear you about leaks; the public track record speaks for itself, tho. Android-ecosystem SoC vendors are 1+ year behind. It's a problem because that lack of focus hurts the user experience and trickles down to the mid-tier and low-end parts where the volume is.
