I don’t necessarily agree with Alex’s tactics but I think that publicly calling things out is a way to put something on the agenda that isn’t being considered, and that’s what I said in my original tweet about it.

No, not on this one. I should have probably reached out to http://vets.gov folks first. Luckily they were gracious. As I've noted elsewhere (including in the article that spawned this), I'm conflicted. Considering a "responsible disclosure" window (say 60 days)...

My frustration stems from so, so many days pouring over partner traces, writing up recommendations (which partners often implement, speeding up their sites significantly) and then being told I'm just a hater when I publicly point out the clear trends I'm seeing.

I give talks about this stuff sometimes, but get written off by folks who don't understand how deep the data-set I'm looking at is. So I need to be able to show, not tell.

If anything, public sector has resisted some of the insanity better than industry. I worry it's just adoption lag, tho. Either way, current frontend practice is incompatible with public sector values and priorities, because physics.
