There are lots of applications that require client-heavy interactivity, where network latency would break the app's usefulness (games are an obvious example).

I'm a big fan of Next.js. It's in the category of "structured solutions to bloat" that I really like (e.g., Polymer PWA Starter Kit, Sapper, Preact CLI, Vue CLI, Ionic PWA Starter Kit, etc. etc.). We need a name for these things!
