Which Android phone under $100 should I buy to test real-world website performance?
I want:
- Tech specs to be representative of the median device in 2019
- Running Android P for latest Chrome

FYI, Chrome and the Android system WebView can be updated separately from the Android version, via Google Play Store. So if P isn't a hard requirement, you can still get the latest Chrome on other devices

Android P isn’t a hard requirement, just latest Chrome. However I would like to see the latest and greatest PWA OS integration and I bet that’s only in the latest OS, right? cc

PWA integration is pretty deep even without P. The places where things change (get somewhat better) are related to Android Settings and resource use attribution, although there are still big asterisks there.

I care a lot of testing the latest PWA integration so I'm leaning toward getting an Android One device for the updates. Would something like the Nokia 3.1 still be representative of a median device in 2019? https://amzn.to/2N6Ypd1

Looks like an MT6750 so 8-core paired with 2+ GB of RAM: https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_3_1-9215.php … It's roughly the same performance class as the Moto G4 I was recommending for years: https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g4-8103.php …

If you really, really want to feel what the NBU life is like, I'd go for something with one of those crap MT6737s, but this is still a world of difference from an iPhone.
