I’m totally subtweeting the years The Platform(tm) has had to make the developer experience not entirely horrible

Anyway, smarter people work on this, hats off to them. I just wish the whole thing felt a bit less developer-hostile UX-wise. Maybe more developers would adopt it then.

In your opinion how could it be less developer-hostile? I have no skin in the game, just curious.

Shift+Cmd+R should remove service worker, period

There should be some visual indication _by the browser_ the page is served from cache. Clicking that visual indication should offer an option to do a full refresh. I mean, iOS lets you reinstall apps without opening Xcode, right?

"from cache" it's kinda difficult to define

Not familiar with subtleties but when I press refresh and get something that was running several months ago, that's definitely from cache

And then when I press refresh again, and again, and shift+cmd+refresh, this is when I definitely mean I don't want that version

Although users behave the same way when they're waiting for something to be released (tickets, a movie trailer etc etc), so I don't think it can be assumed to be "drop my push subscriptions". I think easier access to "clear site data" could be key.

Easily available in devtools, but bringing desktop padlock menu into line with mobile's (better) site settings UI would help for sure.

Anyhow, chrome://serviceworker-internals will let you clobber them all relatively easily.
