The reason is that by leaving it as an exercise to the reader it is used so infrequently as to be non-existent. This isn't hard: judge tools by outcomes. Bad outcomes == bad tools.

I can't speak to Vue, sadly, but react-loadable is rocking 100K weekly downloads. And that's JUST component-level splitting. webpack makes route-level splitting trivial, with react-router built for it. It's literally never been easier.pic.twitter.com/FMGD1W5Di9

...and it's not the default and I'm not seeing it widely used in apps I get called into consult on. THIS APPROACH ISN'T WORKING.

Show me an archetecture that's working for G products and come talk to me. Code coverage at best is in 50%

At the end of the day you can bang the drum all you want but as long as people don't give a shit, auto or not, it's not going to move the needle.

I'd rather give people choice, educate, and then watch them pute fate in their own hands, rather then be perscriptive in a way that makes our tool less flexible.

And that has proven to be an irresponsible approach.

I choose to not be developer tone-deaf at the end of the day. We don't control their decisions. In the same way "bonzai web fundementals" will never control their decisions either. You either support your ecosystem or you don't.

And in the end we will make it easier and easier as more decide to build on our platform instead of try to paddle against it.

Meanwhile, AMP was necessary to tamp down some of these excesses (and is succeeding while wildly prescriptive).

I don't defend AMP much, but for every person preaching flexibility and "DX" there are a dozen publishers that have delivered better experiences via its constraints.

That's fine. It's working great for publishers. Let's hope it stays that way.
