For context, the latest Firefox is 61. 48 is even older than the (ancient) ESR (52):

I *badly* want to see a competitive web-based OS fit these markets; the fit is excellent, but there's smoke pouring out of this one already. Some questions for
@KaiOStech and@KaiHelps : First, where's the source code?2 replies 0 retweets 7 likesShow this thread -
This looks like a public mirror; so where does development happen? Private HG?:https://github.com/kaiostech/gecko-b2g …

Second question: what's the roadmap? B2G *looks* to be getting updates in the
@KaiOStech tree: https://github.com/kaiostech/gecko-b2g/commits/b2g48 … Will these be released to existing users? OTA? When?1 reply 0 retweets 3 likesShow this thread -
Third, what's the plan for APIs?
@mozilla seems to have decided that the web doesn't need to compete, and@KaiOStech ships proprietary B2G APIs; https://developer.kaiostech.com/api ...but not web APIs like Web Bluetooth or Generic Sensors: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Bluetooth_API …https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2017/09/sensors-for-the-web …3 replies 1 retweet 5 likesShow this thread -

@KaiOStech devices be abandonware (see Android) or will they be good citizens and deliver safe, reliable computing (think CrOS)?1 reply 0 retweets 8 likesShow this thread -

Someone on the team told me about the investment *after* I posted all of this. Really hoping for improvements (one way or the other), and hopeful about implementation diversity. Also, did
@mozilla invest? If not, why not?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I don't know, but presumably because they know that having ripped all the B2G code out of mozilla-central the current software stack is a dead end. Which is tragic, in my opinion.
