The chip in that thing is a hand-me-down from 2014, and it wasn't even particularly good then. 4 cores, but they're all in-order with no cache to speak of.

All said though, the Nokia 1 is a pretty good phone for the price. In South Africa even lower specced Android devices (a 3rd of the Nokia 1 price) are very popular. Nobody even has stock of the Nokia 1 at the moment.

Yes, absolutely. I don't think the specs on the "global baseline" device will change this year or next. It's 2014's hand-me-downs as far as the eye can see.
