Perf budgets are so important. Was reminded by @slightlylate 's article on perf budgets https://goo.gl/udViDm that 170kb is about the max you can ship to get interactive in under 5 seconds on the average network / device. Always check the size of a lib before using it!!!

Agreed, these third party scripts are a big part of the issue. Its way to easy to pop in a 1mb script and then wonder why your app is really slow

Sort of correct. Sites very much add 3p participants into their experiences directly and can (and should) audit them and control their behavior. And yes, teams should be able to fix 1p bloat...but the set of teams I see making business-endangering choices is *LUDICROUS*.
