The more I successfully build real apps with Web Components, the more I feel an intense obligation to proselytize their benefits. We're locking up too much awesome work in 3rd party boxes, and missing a huge opportunity to bring a shared component model to all web devs

What puts me off about web components is that you can call all native DOM methods on an instance, messing with its internal tree. A component abstraction should provide encapsulation and a component-specific API that abstracts away the underlying DOM, not expose it.
