@slightlylate Have you seen https://weblog.west-wind.com/posts/2018/May/31/Web-Code-is-a-solved-Problem-How-about-fixing-Web-UI-next …? It resonates with me, but I'd like to know your thoughts from a web components angle.
Also, the caniuse link in that post is pretty misleading. V0 support will start to dry up as usage declines. V1 is getting implemented everywhere.

BTW, I fully agree that HTML is semantically impoverished and that browser vendors have been less-than-creative in improving the situation, e.g., for <input>. I'm moving some of my attention back to this problem this year, FWIW.
