I don't think that's likely, or necessary, at all. Sass is somewhat analogous here, and probably has more users, but has not been standardized nor would it particularly benefit from it.

There's also some historical issues that probably sour people on it. XML literals were standardized, and even implemented, and it did not end well.

Sass as a whole wasn't but constructs like variables are now part of the standard. I think some form of JSX will make it in.

Isn't there something similar that Apple is spec'ing out? A template domain language like Handlebars that can efficiently apply changes, etc?
