The post wasn’t intended as a “refutation of Marxism” or of anything else. It says both conflict theories and mistake theories can be valuable. And says both theories can be eithe left or right, and barely mentions Marxism at all except to give one example at the beginning.
A lot of people took the post to be referring to Marxism since I caricature it as “the people” vs. “the elites”, but this is how eg Steve Bannon frames things too. It’s not about any political group, it’s about a way of thinking about the world.
A survey (see http://slatestarcodex.com/2018/01/26/ssc-survey-data-on-models-of-political-conflict/ … ) found that Marxists were generally the most likely out of seven political groups looked at to endorse conflict theory style descriptions, but it wasn’t by much and every group had some people who used each perspective.
