I have a place where I say complicated things about philosophy and science. That place is my blog. This is where I make terrible puns.

My *whole point* was that trying to "decode" ambiguous comments that people disavow/deny has replaced looking at real policy positions.

Here's a simple question to ask oneself: What kind of "dog whistling" do eavesdroppers hear better than the dogs themselves?

Isn't how quickly the media cues in on supposed "dog whistling" proof that it can't be as useful or ubiquitous as supposed?

Coming to accept @bswud's view that for nearly everybody, arguments/ideas are weapons to advance tribal interests. Sad but probably true.

And I think it's an important point. There's lots to dislike about Trump's policy without making up shit.

Not so convinced it's wrong to want to interrogate the character of the candidate more than their platform. Quality matters.
