I think this means the opposite of what you think. The global 1% is people who make $35,000 / year.

I think you are comparing cash earnings of ppl in dollar equivalents without taking into account non-cash earnings & PPP.

Well, they *are* poorer. Some things are cheaper in KS, but they compete for same college tuition, oil, pharmaceuticals, etc

Suspect Kansas and NYC have diff college prices; US & Costa Rica similar oil. I'm saying it's convention not to adjust for PPP
