Lead affects outcomes. Shared environment doesn't affect outcomes. Lead is a part of shared environment. Anyone want to explain what's up?

@swombat Level of lead exposure as measured in eg serum lead, picked up from paint, fumes, dust, etc.

@slatestarcodex Not enough lead? If .1% of the sample has lead, you can see the effect conditioning on lead, but not on shared environment.

@slatestarcodex Cynical expectation : "controlled for income" seems like it would cover a lot of space where meaningful data once hid.

@slatestarcodex a) nobody has figured out the correct implications of the studies and b) Judith Harris is crazy Bryan Caplan, too.

@random_eddie @slatestarcodex I've found that Cons & Libertarians generally better at Ideological Turing test; not so for Caplan

@slatestarcodex my reflexive thought is something along the lines of "no two alike" where different peers lead to different lead exposure.
