Biden is an institutionalist who probably doesn’t at all want to pack the court. But an activist faction of his party is clamoring for it. If he wins big enough, he won’t have to capitulate to the left. By contributing to a smaller win, you’re weakening his hand in that fight.

Why is court packing worse than a senate leaving open a SCOTUS seat until a same-party pres is elected? Isn’t that the other side of the same coin?

I have been vocally critical of McConnell, Graham, et al. and strongly encourage voters in those states to punish them at the ballot box for their shameless hypocrisy.

Did you feel the same way when Grassley/McConnell were trying to shrink the DC court - in order to keep President Obama from filling the open seats?

I don’t remember the details of that, but I’ve been extremely critical of McConnell and very much hope voters in states with competitive Senate races punish the hypocrisy he is encouraging.
