PM frames the problem, PD frames the experience that solves the problem.

Why is there a belief that the problem framing belongs to the PM? I’ve lost count on how many times has a designer stepped in to point out the wrong problem is being solved. I think both own the problem framing and the tension between perspectives is valuable.

Lots of replies around PMs being responsible for defining the problem while designers are responsible for solving the problem...this seems to be a carry over from waterfall methods. Best teams I’ve worked on, PM, design, & dev are all defining & solving problems collaboratively.
