This is the #1 biggest risk the US faces. Most people don’t know how big a risk this is and the severity of the impact if it comes to pass.

How did the North CID redevelopment not make this list?

How could building a 4th Ave station be less disruptive... 70 yr old technique. Oxford Circus closed for less than 60 hours to prep for building a station. Watch: 4:53 to 10:12. What's old is new.

Attn: Founders dealing with collapse. Recommend writing your 2 senators and house rep. Let them know this goes beyond party and is about real people, include the # of people impacted & other business you contract with. Help them understand the impact #SVBCollapse

Anyone in a start up right now is earning "Narrative Equity" Great thing about NE is that it vests immediately, cannot be revoked, the strike price is only mental and the tax implications are purely emotional.

When thinks about how to implement some of the cost savings recommended by their panel. No need to look to Europe. The built an above ground station downtown without shutting down service for $75M. Doesn't look to shabby either transitchicago.com/washingtonwaba.
The weirdest thing about Twitter and media generally, is people routinely misreading or missing the point of a news article in order give themselves another reason to shake their fist at the world.

I wonder how requiring police misconduct civil settlements get paid out of police pension funds would change the culture of policing. Seems like it could create peer pressure not to put one another's retirement at risk.

last night i witnessed a planning event that underestimated attendance and panicked when they did not have enough chairs. follow my thread on how we would add these chairs if we did it the same way we add housing in this process 1/

in a bit of fitting irony, this seattle city meeting to discuss how much housing we should add has run out of chairs and cant seat everyone.

"...housing costs continue to be a major driver of inflation... accounting for more than half of the total increase in a measure known as “core inflation,” Imagine land use regs making new housing easier. I think supply / demand curve is still a thing.

Contrarian view of the day. Instead give assignments in which ChatGPT is a tool. Trains kids to use generative AI. It’s coming whether we like it or not. Writing good queries is a skill

In terms of years of life lost, the opioid crisis is ~5x that of COVID over the same period. We completely upended our society and economy for COVID while the opioid crisis continues unabated

My annual. - “Seattle needs to better at snow” tweet. Day 3 of non arterials streets being super icy. For a modest capital investment the city could be prepared to salt and plow every street in the city.

Working in Ballard everyday has given me a greater appreciation for the industrial ecosystem here. Thoughts as changes land use. Industrial and retail/commercial use should t count against FAR and height limit. Or at least not the first few floors.

Every time a company puts you through an insanely convoluted IVR before letting you talk to a human they are telling you that their time is more valuable than your time. Looking at you

Happy 2 see new density. Sad that Seattle refs from tho the climate benefit by requiring setbacks, not allowing 0 lot line, and mandating max lot coverage.

So nerdy/so accurate. Happens at all levels of gov and every dept. Saddest part of todays politics - if u support gov you struggle to critique for fear of giving ammo to people that want to starve the beast. You choose between no government and bloat/rot

Excited for everyone to vent their frustrations and let twitter get back to the nuanced, respectful conversations that it was known for before he bought it.

Aside from cad being bad policy.taxing It is insane that it would take $540k to implement. A scooter tax. So bad policy+bad management.
I feel like in buying Twitter also solved affordable housing. He is living rent free in people head.

Thoughts on the overuse of the phrase "Late Stage Capitalism." Seems that it would require the user to be able to see into the future. I think I would be less grumpy if people started using "Of Late Stage Capitalism." Seems more accurate.
I sometimes contemplate things I could have done differently at . proposal is 1 I wish we considered when we were giving our feedback to . A bigger transpo/land use impact than tunnel 1/2 blocks from the current

Fascinating that I got a $10K fine for accidentally emailing a disclosure to the wrong address (because bikes are unpopular) and Durkan intentionally breaks state law with no consequences. Shows what happens when you are connected.

At Roosevelt Station and observing that a below ground station is taking up 1/2 block. is building the interstate highway system of transit. I.e. way to big and on top of neighborhoods instead of integrated.
Why electric cars aren't the answer. The answer is building cities around walking, biking, and transit.

Why does the 4th Ave shallow option look like it has 40' of gratuitous digging? Diggers gonna dig?

Expect more chirping from about how much they value affordable housing. Expect them to continue to pass legislation that throws up obstacles.

Curious when privacy advocates will start advocating for an amendment guaranteeing the right to privacy. I suspect that it would receive overwhelming support.
Listening to pols and corporate media try to claim we are not in a recession makes me realize that… Some recessions are more equal than others.
