oh also ive been having a recurring thought about how all this making fun of manlets and the "virgin/chad" thing probably is already responsible for a death and will be responsible for more in the future, and i just think its fucked thats something we have to worry about
shouldn’t the whole incel culture ideology shoulder way more of the blame for convincing people of that broken worldview tho?

im not trying to blame anyone here. i just want observe the power of memes and culture on a platform with zero nuance and unprecedented reach. like these ideas reach fever pitch cause toxic masculinity has not been addressed by social platforms which means they nurture it
-
i don’t really know how a social platform like twitter addresses that beyond something like reddit shutting down r/incels, how are you supposed to address a hateful ideology invented by unpleasant people to rationalise their neuroses & unlikability into phrenology
-
i dont know. id like to advocate for smaller more curated online spaces, but its hard to enforce space limits, especially for something popular. and i dont know if human moderation can catch all the nonsense once these social spaces reach certain levels of engagement
-
that’s true, but i kinda believe sites like twitter & youtube should be run as nonprofits
-
yeah, if there was an online initiative for creative aggregate sites to be non-profit there would be a vast improvement in online interaction
