Today, a Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics has been awarded to Sergio Ferrara, Dan Freedman and Peter van Nieuwenhuizen for the invention of supergravity in 1976. Each of them will receive 3 million US$. @brkthroughprize

I had these concerns initially Sabine, and still see your point now. But I think there is a case for rewarding work that has been immensely fertile in new ideas too - I'm not convinced the position of the Nobels need always be the right one.

Just because it's "fertile" doesn't mean it's good science. If this is supposed to be a scientific award, "fertility" doesn't qualify a research topic.
