As a lifelong baseball fan, the passing of Bob Gibson stings. An absolute beast. Decades after his last pitch... A lot of amazing pitchers in history....but the great ones had you before you stepped in the box. He was one of them.

This dangerous and honorable work is amazing. In 2019 ofcrs proactively took approx 386 illegally possessed guns off our streets. So far in 2020 with all the issues facing us, 521 illegally possessed guns off our streets=521 families NOT impacted by violence. Work MUST continue!

Many challenges facing our beloved calling. But as I read our daily logs, our men and women continue to sacrifice every day in order for their neighborhoods to live free from fear. We will never stop sacrificing. We will rise, WITH our communities. !

Great work done by a field training patrol unit. They conducted an investigative stop, and upon contact with the driver, who was a convicted felon, found a loaded .45 pistol in his waistband. Further investigation revealed the suspect also possessed cocaine for sales. Excellent!

Great work by our Street Crimes unit who arrested a prior felon in the area of Zanker Rd for possession of 5 lbs of Methamphetamine, Heroin for sales and a loaded 9mm pistol with two high capacity magazines. Outstanding work by these dedicated and professional officers!

Officers attempted to stop a suspect on a stolen motorcycle which fled. Follow-up was conducted and the suspect was identified as a prior felon on active probation. A search resulted in the seizure of 1.5 lbs of heroin and a 9mm pistol. Hmmm, probably why he fled 🤷🏽‍♂️. Outstanding!

I have taken down a tweet regarding a gun arrest I posted last week. I will be more thoughtful in considering how to accurately depict what we see on the street vs. how imagery can have impact on legitimate and powerful symbols in a negative way.

Fantastic investigative work by our patrol officers, who had a search warrant served today which resulted in drugs for sale, bullet proof vests, and more guns...all illegally possessed by a prior felon. Proud of these officers for doing their best to keep our neighborhoods safe.

Last weekend, responding to multiple shooting calls; officers confiscated these illegally possessed guns. The suspects who possess these weapons illegally are responsible for violent crime and continue to ruin lives in our neighborhoods. Outstanding work by our officers!

Very proud of SJPD Academy #37, particularly as they begin their journeys during the most crucial time in American law enforcement. My message was clear.....your NEIGHBORHOODS need your service. Rise to this moment. Serve with honor....serve with pride.

We’re not perfect, we will learn from our mistakes. But this is where the true heart of this department resides. It didn’t take a tragedy for us to realize......we can do better. Please watch.
