Using single-GPU #cuda-gdb in linux to debug a kernel at source level, and it's awesome! Totally worth making repro work without X11. :)

With CUDA 5.5 I think that you can use one GPU and still run X

Only if the GPU is sm3.5.

looks like all desktop 700 series (including Titan) are 3.5, see compute capability here: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus
