"Everyone of us is a world of infinite possibility. We are an army because we have to be. We are an army because we are so powerful. (We have so much to fight for; we are the most precious of endangered species.) & we are an army of lovers because it is we who know what love is."

He could have bought and renovated his mother's house himself. He could have made sure that his nephew didn't have to run drugs when he was laid off. Could have paid for all the grandkids to go to good schools. He and Ginni were pulling high 6 figures.

this is someone with a solidarity fist in their user icon who thinks that asking for a mass noncompliance movement is a waste of time I'm so confused

We would literally be out of doctors. There is no backup. I fully believe we’d have seen Drs stand up for their patients (like they should) had COVID-19 been handled correctly. Too many died or quit/retired. Can we maybe instead focus on the actual fascists?

These laws are existentially dangerous to both the medical profession and the nation as a whole. It makes medicine into a tool of oppression of a minority group. I don't understand how doctors can continence that.

There are clinics -- both abortion clinics and trans care clinics -- that have sued to block or overturn these laws, and that's one valuable tool. But refusal/noncompliance is another powerful tool.

Here, we have doctors who have been performing legal abortions suddenly being told that their practices are now illegal. All they have to do is continue to do what they've been doing.

Morgentaler was also fighting an uphill battle: abortions had not been legal in Canada when he started performing them. He'd publicly testified that they OUGHT to be, and immediately began hearing from desperate women who asked if he could help them.

It's wild to me that someone could say that a doctor standing up for justice is throwing away their life, that they're no longer saving patients. The number of women who are alive bc of Morgentaler is incalculable. Women he never met and never treated.
