@siracusa in your opinion, does Yelp do a better job?
-

-
@marinaepelman I never use Yelp so I have no idea.
-
-
-
@siracusa So are you for or against this change? -
@jpstephens Mostly against.

@siracusa Ofcom research in the UK says that 57% cannot identity ads in search results. http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/research/media-literacy/adults-literacy-2016/2016-Adults-media-use-and-attitudes.pdf …pic.twitter.com/JpjEEERTac

@siracusa I think you're off base on this one. I just did exactly that to some non-techie folks in the office and nobody stumbled. -
@siracusa To be fair, I was looking for something that said “ad”. Not sure I would see it if I was just searching for an app. -
@siracusa or in my instagram feed! -
@siracusa “clearly marked” with a tiny bubble with low readability!! how could anyone miss it? </sarcasm>pic.twitter.com/CUFK2jDsA2

@siracusa The "Ad" badge should be near Get/Buy… I do home support (privately—in Newton also), honestly don't think /anything/ is clear. -
@siracusa it's also probably not that big a deal if you don't know it's an ad. Is that worse than crap search results? People are inoculated -
@siracusa I have a coworker who ALWAYS clicks the ads, even if they aren't really what the search was about, ;_; -
@siracusa heck, I'm a techie and have sometimes accidentally clicked on a Google result ad. -
@siracusa in a world full of Taboola ads, it’s easy to see why Apple would see theirs as clearly marked -
@siracusa “clearly-marked” = different colour that means look here to the media. Then again they use the same strategy with their ads.
