Even for non-glasses-wearers, the Yosemite "x" widget may not appear perfectly centered: http://www.robbert.org/2014/10/the-off-center-close-button/ …

@siracusa Blue deep inside the screen, red popping outside. Clearly two different z-planes.

@arroz Yes, that's another kind of effect. I forget the name, but it's well known.

@siracusa The first thing I did during the beta was look at that control with xScope (to file a Radar.) Which removes physical LCD pixel…

      1. Der Teilweise ‏@teilweise 20 Oct 2014

@siracusa @bartdorsey That’s due to subpixel rendering: The red circle borrows the subpixel on the right but the black x is on main pixels

@teilweise @siracusa Question. Does the position of the window on the screen affect this? Can you nudge it left or right and change it?

      3. Der Teilweise ‏@teilweise 20 Oct 2014

@bartdorsey @siracusa I’d say: The window moves whole pixels, so: No. But there might be some position dependent “randomness” in rendering.

@siracusa On The Silent Age game there are neons near a pub, blue and red on dark background. I could swear I see the neons in 3D.

@siracusa I noticed it makes a difference if it’s Retina or not.

@siracusa I thought something was wrong with the lenses in my glasses when I first got them after contacts. Luckily you learn to ignore CA.

@siracusa Switch to contacts for a few years of dedicated use, then switch back to glasses. You’ll notice chromatic aberration EVERYWHERE.

@siracusa Hell I'm 37 decent eyes and its to small to see because of the bold red color on it. Could they have made it smaller?

@siracusa Switch to the Graphite Appearance and the off-centre ‘x’ goes away. Alignment of red sub-pixels?
