Also: I have covered Washington/politics for 2 decades. I have NEVER seen a president invite the press in to film negotiations with Congress.

except for when Obama did it in 2010 at the House GOP Conference and then the Republicans wouldn't let the cameras back in again cause of how well he handled it.
Of course, that was a PLANNED open press event, which is a bit different...
