That glass bottle you are about to toss in the recycling bin is probably not going to get recycled http://usat.ly/2oZZUN3

you can. Not sure it's the best solution - but I have not been given a better one.

So what's the final verdict on glass? Should we be tossing so it doesn't contaminate the other recyclables? Is there another option?

I never got a good answer. Seems if it is intact, recycling is better than landfill. Better still is a sorting center if you can find.

I disagree after reading ur article. Its harmless in landfills and expensive to recycle. I'm going to leave it out and save my town $.

I knew contaminants were a big prob. In past, local slogan was 'In doubt leave it out'. There are slobs that use them as extra garbage can.

The place was not as stenchy as I thought it might be, actually. But yes - they are hand-sorting your trash.

Thanks for sharing this article. Recycling has become very frustrating for households. Better guidelines needed.

If we don't recycle properly, you will have to carry buckets to get milk and beer.

glass is made out of silica. AKA: Sand. It breaks into little tiny particles of silica. AKA: Sand. Don't know why we recycle it
