1 billion of those hours was me trying to rewatch Uncut Gems but instead catching the first 5 mins of Happy Gilmore

Talk about ROI: “Netflix asserted that its members have spent two billion hours watching Sandler’s films since 2015.”

Perusing medical reddit and found this macabre, beautiful photo of traumatic iridodialysis (from a bungee cord to the eye causing a man’s iris to collapse into multiple deformed pupils).

Hosting a Super Bowl party and it’s officially started because I’ve replaced the regular drug store hand soap in the bathroom with Aesop Resurrection Aromatique. Dw it’s going right back under the sink once this shindig is over. I don’t have money to burn.

Machines as Foucauldian punishment: the original treadmill was invented not for exercise but for prison labor (with prisoners running 7-10hrs). It was mostly phased out by the late 1800s because of high mortality rates. This is all I think about now at the gym.

This gets even more complicated when you consider the fact there are fewer pure play insurers or pharmacies or health systems. E.g. CVS owns an insurer, outpatient clinics/surgery centers, etc.

The enterprise often has multiple buyers. Not in healthcare, it’s even more consolidated: 1 health system may own hundreds of hospitals and clinics. Independence of those facilities varies. Arguably cheaper, with economies of scale, to pick the same vendors and just apply to all.

Healthcare IT is a strange industry because the best technology rarely wins. Consumerization of the enterprise is nonexistent because of the principal agent problem - admin and biz leaders, rarely clinicians, decide what tech the health system uses. Well-oiled sales machines win.

Recently came across this fascinating, valuable visualization. Such data represents so much more than one might assume, and reveals monstrous facts. Highly recommend reading the whole article as well: Thanks &

The cardinal rule of anyone explaining a new game to a group is that no one ever understands the rules when it’s told verbally.

Does every profession have their own version of Stack Overflow? Looking for more examples (other than subreddits). Some I can think of: Figure1 for healthcare professionals Proformative for accountants and controllers

I’m in the NYTimes today saying that monetization is a vanity metric, particularly at the get go for something as incredibly absurd, nihilistic, and fun as 🌚 Congrats and team on the well-deserved feature!
