    We promised to report on life at our observatory, and now we can say: yes, there are definitely ice algae, zooplankton, & living in the voids in the ice. They are well documented by photos from the underwater camera of our ROV Beast. 📸

    Whenever a lead opens up in our floe, the ice does not simply disappear, but shows up in another place. The last days’ lead formation & subsequent closing resulted in the buildup of new ridges. As a consequence, our former trails might end up in a wall of ice.. 📸 Eric Brossier
