When marginalized people make jokes about themselves and their communities they're hilarious. When privileged people make jokes about marginalized people it's not funny at all. Privileged people only have a handful of jokes about marginalized people and they all suck.

“Arbitrary” is not the same as “fake” or “imaginary”. Society assigns marginalized and privileged status based on arbitrary characteristics, but those statuses are a real thing.

That’s not an “institutional analysis”, that’s an individualist analysis. How can you claim to be analyzing institutions and then say there’s no mechanism by which institutions can affect and shape society? It’s almost like you don’t know what you’re talking about...

No, my rebuttals go to theory and philosophy. When I said “individualist”, I was referring to the ideology individualism bc your statement “the role of responsibility in outcomes” indicated adherence to Ayn Rand style individualist philosophy.

But you don’t really seem equipped for an ideological discussion, so I’ll just let you know institutions have many mechanisms by which they “enforce” or encourage social outcomes. Racial humor denigrating marginalized groups and encouraging society to do the same is one.
