They just called again, and not much of an improvement—sadly. I told them to really own the role.
Just got off the phone with someone attempting a prank call. They were shocked to get advice from me about how they needed better delivery.

The third try was much better. They had a role picked out ahead of time, but it still fell flat, because they didn't have a purpose.
