Gaslighting is an manipulation tactic to abuse victims by instilling doubt in their own thoughts and perceptions by denying, misdirecting, and lying to them.
Ex:
“That was racist.”
“No, it wasn’t.”

It means you're moving the goalposts to continue insisting that you're right. You: Gaslighting isn't a thing. Still you: Okay, maybe it's a thing, but it's just an excuse to be a victim.

Ah, I see. That makes sense. I wasn't aware of the movie. The term is being used inappropriately though. Which is diminishing its meaning.
