Why I reject the word "gaslighting." It's used to silence someone by forcing the premise they are an abuser and manipulator. It's also a victim card, trying to claim that someone else can manipulate you to such a degree that they are responsible for your perception of reality.

That’s a terribly broad generalization though. Just like we shouldn’t abuse the connotation or meaning or words by overusing them, nor should we omit them entirely if their meaning is perverted or abused. It is incumbent upon the individual to use the word as intended.

This entails realizing that the cultural context of words ultimately changes. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. If a certain word’s meaning evolves in such a way that we feel its use has become perverted, we can always work to shift the perceptions guiding that.

He who controls the vocabulary, controls the meaning, controls the thoughts, controls the narrative. Words are VERY important.
