Funny. Just yesterday I read a comment about the topic in the Spiegel, an important German media: https://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/sascha-lobo-der-taegliche-meinungsfreiheitskampf-a-1295220.html … tl;dr: It's easy to have a public opinion if you are a politian protected by the justice system and the police or quite wealthy. And dangerous if you don't.

But: I don't want societies like Hitler-Germany, East-Germany controlled by the Stasi or murderous regimes like the ones from Stalin or Mao to return. That for we need open public discurs of problems, protection of freedom of speech (and opinion) and ....

It's true. I wouldn't even think about using my real name online. I haven't had a social media account under my real name in 2 years because of the risk of even liking the wrong post. My aliases give me freedom to enjoy social media without the risk of jeopardizing my career.
