This sounds an awful lot like what a white woman said to me when I worked at one of the larger tech companies. "You should just be happy to be here". Let that sink in. I was senior and leading teams. I delivered when others could not. "You should just be happy to be here"

I didn't mention tech, and I didn't say weird. I said unprofessional. As in lacking the social graces to engage with clients or coworkers in a professional manner.
