Damn way to lump a bunch of people together like a monolith. I have a Ghanaian friend who will tell you his journey in tech in America has not left him happy and resilient like he was in Africa. But you know, take our enthusiasm & use it as a reason to not reflect on problems.

Not like that’s not incredibly dehumanising or anything...

Hey
@erostribe, I appreciate your perspective. I didn’t intend to dehumanize or lump everyone together, but rather to highlight my admiration for that community and acknowledge the privileged lives we live here in America in perspective.2 replies 0 retweets 6 likes -

In America I barely survive. I lived in a rat infested warehouse in SF for 6 months because it was the only place I could afford. Your generalizations only serve to dehumanise a population you only encounter in the ways you see fit because it suits your narrative.

We’re not even all privileged. So I should be thankful for the privilege of being more likely to die in childbirth here than in Africa? Or more privileged to be shot by the police for being in my own home. What privilege do ascribe to my existence that’s any better than Africa?

Let me tell you a story of an African man who came here happy and enthusiastic like you describe. I met him 3 yrs ago. I saw him not too long ago. America has sucked the life out of him.

He was weak. It's his fault, not America.
