But each deed you do, each act, binds you to itself and to its consequences, and makes you act again and yet again. Then very seldom do you come upon a space, a time like this, between act and act, when you may stop and simply be. Or wonder who, after all, you are.

I'm halfway through new book (altho I did have a peak before publishing) I'm struck by how much of the local work here is guided by the wisdom on the pages & the community of people who have contributed. It feels like the guide neighbourhoods have been waiting for

100% with in his anger and frustration at Tories who take a sledge hammer to the economy and public services, and then try to pretend that the consequences have nothing to do with them. They do just the same in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Never underestimate the vast ignorance of Americans. Respondents to a YouGov poll believed, on average, that Jews are 30% of the population (they're actually 2%), blacks are 41% (they're actually 13%), and Muslims are 27% (they're actually 1%).

Visited a food bank today & spoke with volunteers. Felt total gratitude to an amazing group of people working in these circumstances. And despair that our inequality crisis is a result of very deliberate political choices by this government. It doesn't have to be like this.
