Why can't they finish it on the other side of the roundabout on the uphill part?

So true, downhill sprints should be forbidden.
-
So should be racing for Groenewegen

Racing as an amateur there was NEVER a race allowed with a downhill finish. Why so for pros and why so at all? It doesn't make for a better finish.

The next time a race has a downhill finish, don’t race it. Your lives are more precious than a result. Make the organisers and the UCI see sense. Collectively, you, the riders are the most powerful people in the sport.

Don't blame the organization. Groenewegen acted like a psychopath and he should be banned from cycling. This is only his fault.

Each part has his responsibility

I totally agree with you but we have not to forget the responsability of Groenewegen. UCI must take suspensions and rules to avoid that. We don't want to see big crash like that. Really we don't.

While that is true, UCI checks the parcours, so they should've banned this finish. But more than that, this 99% the fault of Groenewegen, he went from the middle of the road fully to the right and even elbows Jakobsen (and this isn't the first time)!

UCI should also have punished Groenewegen & other sprinters in the past when they behaved like that, and not only do it when something horrible happens, then ignore it again next time when the rider brakes, manages to stay upright or the crash is only minor.
