The height represents the population density. Volume of the mountain total population. Paris is the most densely populated City in the Western Hemisphere (depends on how you count Manhattan). Total metro of London similar to Paris and Moscow, RuhrGebiet, but smaller than Istanbul

This is a very odd map. At first glance I thought it must be just the EU. But no, Norway and Switzerland are there. So is Kosovo but not Bosnia. Half the Balkans have sunk under the sea and little Luxembourg is a tiny blank lake. I won't go on...it gets curiouser and curiouser!
