I'm writing an academic monograph about medieval poems by celibate poets who wrote for thousands of lines about how good it is to be single. Also, I watch anime.https://twitter.com/VonSpeare/status/914811434873376769 …

A lot of these poets were voluntarily celibate. But, in any case, the book isn't about their celibacy, it's about the manuscripts the in which poems survive.
-
Are the poems the main content of the manuscripts or are we talking about marginalia?
-
Oh, main content. Often the only substantial text in the book & the inciting text, i.e. the one around which the book was compiled.
