Óglaigh na hÉireann will deploy a team to Lebanon this weekend to support the 121 Inf Bn and their personnel. 4 members of our Personnel Support Service will provide counselling services to the Bn while 3 MP investigators and a Legal Officer will assist with the investigation.

Last night a peacekeeper was killed and three others were injured in an incident in Al-Aqbieh, just outside UNIFIL’s area of operations in south Lebanon. We offer our deepest condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of the peacekeeper who died.

Saddened to hear of the untimely death of Brendan McAllister. As a Victims Commissioner and through his work with Mediation NI, Brendan’s compassion and humanity always shone through. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP ⁦
