Nobody seems to trust the Home Office anymore - too many bad things have happened to EU citizens living in the UK. #Brexit is not their fault, so why do they have to pay for the consequences of it?

That's exactly right. Except for one unimportant detail: "The people" do have a say, through a process known as "European Parliament elections". The last one was in 2014 and the next is in 2019.

You mean that Barnier, Juncker and Tusk are unelected by the people of the EU and therefore can't be voted out of office if we disagree with them. Yes, democracy in action
