Just heard the sad news that Fred Taylor, expert on Venus’ atmosphere, former Halley professor @OxfordPhysics, Sky at Night regular and one of the nicest senior scientists I got to know early in my career has died. Sad to think I won’t run into him and chat again,
Our laboratory store room is filled with graphs, data and printouts from some of his early missions. It's fascinating to take a look through them and get a feeling for the early planetary missions, he had a truly great career. Will miss him!

He was my neighbour, and I even worked with him briefly during my time at Oxford Physics's IT department. The nicest man. I will miss him.
