An awful lot of people are seeing straight through that PR 'win' though surely?
It's fascinating to see how the govt has turned an utter disaster of the COVID response into a PR win with this meaningless "100,000 tests" figure. We're supposed to congratulate them for *nearly* meeting an arbitrary target that they chose for themselves? A complete non-story.

Completely agree. Their initial ambition was to test 100,000 people per day - this figure just tells us tests available to be used per day.

Its insulting IMO. We need to have a comprehensive strategy mapped out and imparted to the population in detail. They want the accolades (narcissistic supply) but are not prepared to show contrition for being tardy and caught out by their own lack of foresight and execution.
