I loved those Eurostar journeys to Paris and Brussels when I worked in the SE...but now home in NE it’s a further 3.5 hours by train just to check in. We need a high speed link in the NE 
Today I'm travelling from Oxford to Darmstadt by rail, in an attempt at #FlyingLess.
It takes longer (9hrs vs 5hrs) but I get a comfortable seat, no airport hassle and a table big enough to work at. Now sitting on the @Eurostar wondering why anyone bothers flying in W. Europe...

As someone who flies for a living (albeit Longhaul) I love train travel. I just wish it was more accessible in my part of the world. Unfortunately Canadian geography limits its use.
