I read just a bit about Derrida’s political views, but Marxism was VERY popular w/his ilk in the 60s, it’s at least an influence. I just know he hated the French Communist Party, was called a “libertarian pessimist” in the 80s, & acted SUPER pro-Marx once the US was unchallenged
How will the flow of labour into your country be controlled with lower border restrictions? You can have mass migration or a welfare state, but not both. Eventually people will either object to those who have not contributed receiving benefits or the money runs out. See Sweden.

Why would the flow of labor need to be controlled? More labor means more production, with fewer hours per person. Logistically, there’s no reason you can’t have both, but I’d prefer to involve the state as little as possible. Now what do you think’s going on in Sweden?

2. I set up a bakery with two workers and make just enough bread to meet demand and make a profit. Then I employ 10 workers, make 5 times as much bread. Better? Well only if I a) sell all my bread b) the sale price still allows me to make a profit after costs. Demand matters.
