Okay you see this? YOU SEE THIS. I'm sorry I am appalled as a writer.

This. Weirdo power!

If we've learned anything from the Bigolas Dickolas Incident, it's that if you love a book, tell everyone, because people trust the honestly enthusiastic word of incredibly named weirdos on the internet far more than all the marketing departments in all the publishers on earth.

Just read "In Time, All Foxes Grieve Westward," a heartrending tale that managed to be both as familiar as my own family and as hallucinatory and eye-popping as an acid trip. I really admire the imaginative power in this one.

Ian is not on twitter but I have screamed about this story so much. It was one of my faves last year and I adore him as a person. All of his stories are brilliant. Congrats, Ian. I'm really lucky to be your friend even if you can't see this on here ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ–ค

This trend has been building the last decade. But as a result of paper shortages these last couple years, costs for paper climbed high enough that it's just not feasible to publish doorstoppers or much longer titles where they might previously have had good return on cost. ->

Querying writers, I've talked to a lot of editors this week and you should know that they've all told me extent โ€” i.e., length โ€” is a huge cost issue. Printing and paper costs are very, very high these days.

And don't run this adapt or die by me. You mean sell out and lower the wages for artists who at the short story level don't make a living wage or at the movie level don't make a living wage while studio execs make billions of dollars. +

I don't want to yell at editors or other writers. But this is a line I have drawn so if that bothers anyone bye. Artists have convictions, they care about meaning and do things with purpose and intention and awareness even if the work is silly.

I do not support any magazine asking for AI assisted or generated stories in their calls. Period. I also do not support ppl doing challenges where they prove they are better than AI, in any form. Even tweets. It helps train the machine and gives credence to: it's not a threat +
