Occasionally, it's good to remind people that Palestinian Americans exist and that the president and Congress regularly take actions that target us for simply exercising our rights in this country.

A lot of liberals are very cowardly as far as US crimes and complicity in Palestine go. But what's just as breathtaking but doesn't receive nearly enough attention is how cowardly they are when it comes to the rights of Palestinian Americans.

For instance, the BDS bill from July was supported by almost every Democrat in Congress, who made arguments about protecting Israel or favoring a "better" path to "peace." Nobody, not liberals, not leftists, ever thought about that bills effect on Palestinian Americans.

There are countless ways that the US government targets and harms Palestinians living under occupation and under siege. The BDS bill was an attack on Palestinian Americans, but we're so marginalized, even with the solidarity movement, it didn't register.

I don't know what to even call it. Is it xenophobia because everyone thinks of Palestinians as living over there? Is it appropriation because everybody thinks they know better than Palestinians how to liberate us? Is it racism because they can't trust us to speak for ourselves?

This EO is in part the handiwork of Kenneth L. Marcus, who's spent the better part of decade fighting the free speech rights of Palestinian American students.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/10/us/politics/trump-antisemitism-executive-order.html …

We can and should talk about how it will reinforce antisemitic notions about Jews being eternal "foreigners" and all the harm that will come with that. But there's no reason to ignore or downplay that this is an attack on Palestinian Americans and anyone who stands with us.

Daily, I think of a Liberal who told me that "no offense but" Palestinians are irrelevant to this presidency, back in 2016.

It infuriates me seeing anti-Palestinian racists online express disregard, contempt, and aloofness towards the suffering of Palestinian people. As an ally I just want to cry seeing these racists being so cruel and vicious
