A lot of senior engineers suffer from an inability to analyze a persons experience level, and they’ll botch explanations high or low. It’s an important skill to learn early on who to go high level for.
i've noticed this as well. i think of it as a theory of mind problem. in order to provide a good explanation, you have to understand where the other person is at in their current understanding. often you have to ask questions to figure that out cuz you don't know what they know.
